Position Details

Position Summary

Are you detail-orientated? Do you enjoy a variety? The Circulation Department is looking for two energetic individuals with good organizational skills who enjoy performing a wide range of duties. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to sorting and re-shelving library materials, shelving materials in the adult area, answering and directing incoming phone calls, greeting patrons at our Welcome Desk, and emptying the book-drops. Other duties may require data entry.
HOURS:
• 15 hours/week- 5 days/week: (2 openings)
• One position open for weekday late afternoons and Saturday mornings or afternoons
• One position open for weekday evenings and Saturday mornings or afternoons
• You will have a set schedule which does not change from week to week
• These are year-round positions – no seasonal positions are currently available

Essential Duties and Responsibilites

• Good communication skills and a commitment to providing great customer service
• A high level of accuracy when filing both alphabetically and numerically with decimals
• Must be able to follow detailed instructions and work efficiently with minimal supervision
• Ability to master the operation of telephone equipment
• Ability to bend, lift, carry, and grip individual books that may weigh up to 10 lbs
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Weekend availability: all positions require either a Saturday or Sunday shift as part of their regular weekly schedule

Critical Mental/Physical Requirements

• Hand/finger dexterity sufficient to operate a computer; visual acuity sufficient to read a computer screen; ability to read, write and communicate in English fluently.

Position Qualifications/Experience

PREFERRED:
• Understanding of the Dewey Decimal System
• Basic computer literacy
• Customer service experience
