Position Details

Position Summary

Elmhurst Public Library enriches life in Elmhurst by providing opportunities to connect, create, and explore. Through one-on-one public service interactions and group instruction, Technology Specialists help patrons find information, locate Library materials, access Library services, and use Library and personal technology. Technology Specialists facilitate a friendly learning environment for all patrons to explore technology, the Library and its services. Applicants should show the ability to offer fantastic customer service, an aptitude for teaching engaging classes, a demonstrated interest in technology and expertise with the use of creative software.

Hours: 16 hours per week, Mondays 1-5, Wednesdays 5-9, Thursdays 1-5, Fridays 1-5, and Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays on rotation. This is not a seasonal position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites

*Assists library patrons by finding materials, answering questions, providing technology help and facilitating the use of the Creative Studio
*Teaches monthly technology classes on a variety of topics such as Social Media, Microsoft Office, 3D Printing and the Adobe Creative Cloud
*Helps to maintain an atmosphere conducive to connecting, creating and exploring.

Critical Mental/Physical Requirements

Hand/finger dexterity sufficient to operate a computer; visual acuity sufficient to read a computer screen; ability to read, write and communicate in English fluently.

Position Qualifications/Experience

*Strong knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office, and the Internet
*High aptitude with creative technology software and equipment
*Ability to interact patiently and pleasantly with people of all ages
*High School diploma

*Experience working with the public
*Experience providing group or one-on-one technology instruction
*Knowledge of basic library organization

Working Conditions
Wage $15.44 per hour
